KZN Yearling Sale 2019 – Hollywood Syndicate Purchases

The Hollywood Syndicate recently purchased 11 yearlings at the KZN Yearling Sale 2019, held at the Sibaya Casino. See more about them here.

The sale was held at the Sibaya Casino, just north of Durban from the 4th-5th July 2019. Interestingly to note, the sales figures were quite a bit higher that last year and that is purely down to the high quality specimens on offer. See more about the record breaking sales figures here – Sporting Post – July Week Sale Breaks Records.

In the end, we added 11 more yearlings to our ever increasing string of horses. With a bit of luck, we hope one of them is a future champion. See more about each of our exciting new purchases below.

Lot 26: CHINAMPA – Captain of All x African Lily (Horse Chestnut)

Lot 26 – From the same family as WILLIAM LONGSWORD, REAL PRINCESS and VICTORY MOON. She is a beautifully topped horse with plenty of scope to mature into an real athletic individual, being quite a late foal.

Lot 31: SECRET ALLIANCE – Flower Alley x Alliance One (Fort Wood)

Lot 31 – A beautifully balanced colt by Flower Alley, all the angles were in the right places and he moves with good intent. He originates from a strong family, with his mother being the own sister to BIG BAD JOHN, half-sister to DISCO QUEEN, Redoubtable (dam of FRENCH NAVY, Resolution), Mkushi Gold (dam of ULTIMATE DOLLAR, KONKOLA, MIYABI GOLD).

Lot 34: 17ARCETRI DAWN – Jackson x Arcetri Dawn (Bel Esprit)

Lot 34 – A big flashy filly by Jackson, out of family of sprinter-milers, she had the presence of a feature racehorse. Surprisingly big for a first foal, she moves like a classic Oaks type filly, although her pedigree would suggest that a mile would be her preferred trip. Her mother (Arcetri Dawn) is the half sister to ARCETRI PINK who earned just under R1 500 000 during her career, winning from 1000m – 1600m. Her biggest achievements – winning the Gauteng Fillies Guineas (Gr2) and the Ipi Tombe Challenge (Gr2). She was also Gr1 placed three times.

Lot 93: LETS’S GET EVEN – Vercingetorix x Even Drift (Western Winter)

Lot 93 – From the famous Argentinian “E-Family”, including the likes of ELUSIVE FORT, EMPRESS CLUB, EASYJADEASY and ELUSIVE SILVER. He is a high quality colt with plenty of scope and has the appearance of an early sprinter-miler.

Lot 96: DEEP IN THOUGHT – Philanthropist x Facinating Filly (Antonius Pius)

Lot 96 – A first foal from the mare, he is from the same family that produced LOVE IS IN THE AIR and CAREFUL LANDING. A great mover and from a black-type winning mare who succeeded over 1200-1400m, he will more than likely be looking for a mile later on.

Lot 144: BEST ONE – Coup De Grace x Kelly’s Olympics (Kingmambo)

Lot 144 – From a strong speed family, he is the brother to black-type winners including OLYMPIC OWEN, SPEEDY SUZY, Fly Phillippa and Dame Kelly. Being by a stallion who excelled over the 1200-1600m, he should be following in his families footsteps as far as his preferred trip is concerned. A great mover, he should come to hand early.

Lot 151: GLOBAL HIGH – Global View x Kwacha (Tiger Ridge)

Lot 151 – From a true sprinter-miler family on her mothers side, she is in-bred to STORM CAT which will certainly enhance the speed element in her pedigree. She hails from the same family as the likes of ARABIAN LASS, SMART BANKER and ARABIAN BEAT.

Lot 161: SICHUAN – Pathfork x Lilium Regale (West Man)

Lot 161 – This colt is a big angular colt with a great presence about him. He is the half brother to Stargazer Pink, who produced Look To The Sky. From the same family as VILLANDRY, RUN FOR LILY, ARION and  DYNASTIC POWER.

Lot 164: RED TUESDAY – What A Winter x Lucky Tuesday (Authorized)

Lot 164 – Possibly one of the specimens of the sale, as far as the colts were concerned. He had a great presence about him and the although his page looks weak at first glance, he is from the same cross as top class filly, CLOUDS UNFOLD.

Lot 199: MY OH MY – Lateral x Oh My (Strike Smartly)

Lot 199 – A well balanced colt, he is from the same family as the multiple Gr1 winning FOREST PATH, as well as Gr1  Winning SPANISH GALLARD (1991 Champion Older male).

Lot 269: MARQUIS MARK – Duke Of Marmalade x Stormin Cat

Lot 269 – An angular colt with plenty of scope, he is from the same family that produced champion sire WESTERN WINTER. In fact he is in-bred to Chilly Hostess who produced the former. Bred for 10 furlongs, he will have all the time he needs to mature.
