RALPH THE RASCAL was purchased by the Hollywood Syndicate at the BSA November 2018 Ready To Run Sale. He is a colt by Gimmethegreenlight (AUS) out of the Toreador (IRE) mare, Ice Link. He was consigned by Jane Thomas’ Far End Farms.

Mare: Ice Link (Toreador)
Breeder: Moutonshoek Stud
Trainer: Alyson Wright
Purchased: BSA Ready To Run Sale 2018
Pedigree: View Here
Record: 25-3-13

Previously known as Ice Rink, he is a smart, beautifully balanced gelding by Gimmethegreenlight (AUS), out of a Toreador (IRE) mare called Ice Link. Ice Link is the half-sister to the likes of PROFIT REPORT, a 9 time winner in SA and Mauritius, including the Falcon Sprint (L), as well as 2nd in the Golden Horseshoe (Gr1); and SEATTLE ICE, an 8 time winner, including the Charity Mile (Gr2). He appears to be a quality sprinter type, having already shown a fair amount of speed in his work so far. We decided to geld him earlier this year, as he was starting to show signs of becoming a bit top heavy.

October 31st, 2021
Debut over 1400m on the turf at Hollywoodbets Greyville. He produced an eye-catching debut, finishing fourth. He was green, but finished his race off really well. Raymond Danielson said that if he had a draw, he could have been 2 – 3 lengths closer and the result would have been even better. He looks like a nice horse and should come on a lot with this run.

September 22nd, 2021
He had to overcome an awkward of nine over 1400m on the polytrack at Hollywoodbets Greyville today. He settled near the rear of the field and finished his race off well to finish in fifth. He will come on with this run under the belt and when cracking a good draw, he should be very competitive. See the replay here.

July 18th, 2021
Was rewarded for consistency winning over 1400m at Hollywoodbets Greyville this afternoon. He has notched up his third career victory under a strong ride by Winning Form-sponsored jockey Serino Moodley. Well done to trainer Alyson Wright and to the breeders Moutonshoek. See the replay here.

He ran a very good race over 1400m on the turf at Hollywoodbets Greyville today. He was inconvenienced when trying to make his run, but fought hard to finish third. See the replay here.

April 15th, 2021
He was trying the mile for the first time this afternoon. The manner in which he finished off his race caught the eye. He is always competitive and earns a cheque for the Syndicate. See the replay here.

March 28th, 2021
At level weights, this was a brilliant performance against some serious opposition. He was punching well above his weight today and should have plenty more in the tank before his career draws to a close. See the replay here.

February 3rd, 2021
He looked a winner 300m from home, but in the end found one better on the day. It was another very honest performance from this son of Gimmethegreenlight and he should find the winners enclosure soon.

January 3rd, 2021
A solid effort in strong company by Ralph The Rascal today. He was possibly left with a bit too much to do in the closing stages, but managed to finish off well enough for 3rd place. See the replay here.

November 4th, 2020
He picked up his 2nd career win in dominating fashion, in the 5th race at Hollywoodbets Greyville Racecourse today. Well done to Lyle Hewitson for timing his ride perfectly, the Alyson Wright Stable for training him and breeders Moutonshoek Stud. A 4-year old son of Gimmethegreenlight out of the Toreador mare Ice Link, he looks destined for a few more visits to the winners’ enclosure.

February 2nd, 2020
Ralph The Rascal won the 3rd race at Hollywoodbets Greyville today, at just the second time of asking. A beautifully timed ride by Tristan Godden, he picked off the opposition one-by-one and this son of Gimmethegreenlight looks destined for more. Well done to the Alyson Wright team and breeders Moutonshoek.

December 6th, 2019
As his pedigree suggests, he showed plenty of speed in his barrier this afternoon, despite the slow start. He really enjoyed the experience, moving up within a matter of strides and that will bring him on a lot for his debut in a few weeks.

September 10th, 2019
Now called Ralph The Rascal, he put in a nice grass gallop this morning. Seen below doing his work with his stable companion, a three time winning mare called Green Ice, who is incidentally also by Gimmethegreenlight.

September 7th, 2019
He loves the attention – seen here during a recent visit by the Hollywoodbets Training Team, who will be following his career keenly.

August 30th, 2019
With such a great temperament, it is no surprise to see him getting all the love and attention from the Hollywoodbets Marketing team on their recent visit to Summerveld.

He is really starting to show us some encouraging work at home and should just about be ready for his debut towards the middle of September.

May 10th, 2019
He was a very green,  solid colt after being broken in. As such, he developed an awkward action and it was soon evident that gelding was the next step. He is starting to show a lot more and when things come together for him, he should be a nice horse.

November 18, 2018

He has arrived safely in Durban and has already been put through his paces at Summerveld. He moved very well and we are excited to see him run in a years time. Below is a photo of him a few minutes after the auctioneer’s hammer came down.
