The Hollywood Syndicate has just the two runners to look out for this weekend and they both step out at Hollywoodbets Scottsville, this Sunday 19th January 2020. Mighty Smart will be looking to make amends for his below par effort last time out, when suffering a mild muscle injury. He lines up in the 5th race on the card and Purple Nkanyezi should be a strong challenger in the very next event, that being the 6th race. See more about what we expect here.

Hollywoodbets Scottsville
Race 5 – 15:05
1600m – Mystiko MR 79 Handicap
14 – Mighty Smart
Trainer: Paul Lafferty
Jockey: D Schwarz
Wgt: 56.5kg
Draw: 14 (18 Runners)
Predicted Betting: 25/1
He was reported to be not striding out in his latest effort, when making his handicap debut and he subsequently pulled up with a pulled gluteus muscle. That explains his poor performance and he is clearly far better than that. He has subsequently overcome that injury and is ready to put in a much improved performance here. Drawn wide, he should have the gate speed to overcome his wide barrier draw to find a relatively handy position early on. With a bit of luck in running, he should give a much better account of himself and we expect him to be in the first five places, in what appears to be a rather competitive handicap.
Winning Form Comment: Had excuses in post maiden run. Drops in class and should improve.
Race 6 – 15:40
1200m – Lando FM 92 Handicap (F&M)
2 – Purple Nkanyezi
Trainer: Garth Puller
Jockey: A Mgudlwa
Wgt: 54.5kg
Draw: 2 (12 Runners)
Predicted Betting: 7/1
She had a big weight to shoulder in just her second start, when making her handicap debut and she gave a very good account of herself to finish just 2,45-lengths off the winner. She now returns to the Hollywoodbets Scottsville straight course, where she ran a very impressive barrier trial in September last year. This daughter of Oratorio still has so much scope for further improvement, being the type of filly that is going to get better and better with time. With a very handy galloping weight to shoulder this time, Athandiwe Mgudlwa takes the mount and we give her a solid place chance with a fair winning chance.
Winning Form Comment: First run up the straight. Faces stronger but carries more suitable mass.
