Wednesday 4 November 2020
Hollywoodbets Greyville Polytrack

Race 3 – 13:40
1400m – Track & Ball Fixed Odds 031 314 1155 Merit Rated 70 Handicap

4 – Chief Officer
Trainer: Cliffie Miller
Jockey: Jabu Jacobs (-2.5kg)
Wgt: 60.0kg
Draw: 4 (12 Runners)
Predicted Betting: 14/1

He gave a useful account of himself last time out when making his handicap debut against slightly stronger opposition. From a similar draw, apprentice Jabu Jacobs claims the 2,5kg’s off his back and if staying the 1400m trip he should be one of the major contenders at the business end.

Winning Form Comment: Ex Wright A J-2020.07.11. Best MR:79. Not disgraced in handicap debut against stronger, don’t ignore.

Race 5 – 14:55
1400m – Soccer Any15 Conditional Novice

5 – Spydas Corner (pictured)
Trainer: Duncan Howells
Jockey: Muzi Yeni
Wgt: 56.0kg
Draw: 5 (9 Runners)
Predicted Betting: 7/1

He was an impressive winner last time out, when showing big improvement in just his second career start. Having shown big improvement since that effort, he now steps into handicap company and faces tougher opposition, but we are confident that he will be up to the task at hand and should be able to find the first three places.

Winning Form Comment: Showed true potential in latest. May opt for similar tactics, respect.

8 – White Cedar
Trainer: Cliffie Miller
Jockey: Tristan Godden
Wgt: 57.0kg
Draw: 8 (9 Runners)
Predicted Betting: 10/1

He was very disappointing last time out, when reverting back to the 1200m after showing promising signs prior to that run. Back over the 1400m here and he will definitely enjoy the extra furlong. He should have the early speed to settle close to the leading line but with 57.0kg on his back in this sort of company, he may find this tough.

Winning Form Comment: Best MR:79. Much better than poor latest. Out at the weights but don’t ignore.

9 – Ralph The Rascal
Trainer: Alyson Wright
Jockey: Lyle Hewitson
Wgt: 58.0kg
Draw: 9 (9 Runners)
Predicted Betting: 14/1

He just needed his last start over a trip that was probably short of his best and the post-race report from jockey Lyle Hewitson was very encouraging. This son of Gimmethegreenlight gave him a very nice feel but just showed signs of needing the run in the closing stages. He now steps back up to his preferred trip of 1400m and will strip a lot fitter this time around. Hewitson retains the ride and with some luck in running from gate 9, he will be expected to show big improvement.

Winning Form Comment: 2nd run after rest. Best MR:81. Needed latest. Will enjoy the extra furlong and should strip fitter.

Race 8 – 16:45
1000m – Hollywoodbets Bright Future Merit Rated 68 Handicap

8 – Spanish Fort
Trainer: Cliffie Miller
Jockey: Tristan Godden
Wgt: 54.0kg
Draw: 8 (15 Runners)
Predicted Betting: 25/1

He is very speedy out the gates but has found the KZN opposition a lot tougher when it comes to the business end of his races. He drops significantly in class now having dropped a further 6 points to a mark of 56 after his last start and that should give him a much better chance of featuring more prominently now. Draw 8 shouldn’t be too much of a problem for this son of Elusive Fort and if he is allowed to dictate terms out in front, he should finish  a lot closer to the leading contenders.

Winning Form Comment: 3rd run after rest. Best MR:75. Quick starter. Needs to recapture sand form.

14 – Purple Powahouse
Trainer: Alyson Wright
Jockey: Reserve Runner
Wgt: 61.5kg
Draw: * (15 Runners)
Predicted Betting: 4/1

He is the second reserve so we will be hoping for two withdrawals if he is going to have any hope of taking part here. With that said, he is in a good place currently and with the form line of his last start holding up well, he should be a major contender in this sort of company over the 1000m.

Winning Form Comment: Best MR:71. Kingston Rock won next time out, respect.
