Upcoming Runners – Hollywoodbets Greyville – Wednesday 1st July 2020

We have three Juveniles stepping out for their debuts this Wednesday 1st July and it is always exciting to see how they take the experience. Of our raced runners, Bhakka should have the best winning chance when he lines up in the 7th race. See more about their chances here.

Wednesday 1st July 2020
Hollywoodbets Greyville Poly

Race 1 – 11:40
1000m – Covid-19 Helpline 0800 029 999 Maiden Juvenile Plate

8 – Masango Machine
Trainer: Alyson Wright
Jockey: Tristan Godden
Wgt: 60.0kg
Draw: 8 (16 Runners)
Predicted Betting: 8/1

Bred along the same lines as the superstar filly, Clouds Unfold, this smart What A Winter gelding has his first sight of a racecourse here. From barrier 8, he should have the gate speed to find a position just behind the leading line, where he will be well set to mount a late challenge. He has shown enough at home to go into place contention first up.

Winning Form Comment: First Run. What A Winter gelding.

Race 2 – 12:15
1400m – Maiden Juvenile Plate (Fillies)

4 – Top Me Up Holly
Trainer: Alyson Wright
Jockey: Tristan Godden
Wgt: 60.0kg
Draw: 4 (16 Runners)
Predicted Betting: 10/1

A classic looking, well bred filly who has taken every test in her stride, she now lines up for her course debut. Drawn well, we will be looking to see her finish off her run and the experience will do her the world of good. On what she has shown us so far, she should go into contention for the first three places.

Winning Form Comment: First Run. Master Of My Fate filly. Sister to: MAX RAPAX9g(33: 7,13),RAP ATTACK7g(38: 6,24),ATAIR13m(24: 4,11).

Race 4 – 13:25
1400m – www.tabgold.co.za Maiden Plate

5 – Ibutho
Trainer: Alyson Wright
Jockey: Tristan Godden
Wgt: 56.0kg
Draw: 5 (16 Runners)
Predicted Betting: 8/1

A strapping son of Duke Of Marmalade, he lines up against older horses for his debut appearance and we are expecting a decent performance from him if he isn’t too green. Drawn well, he should be prominent throughout and looks to be a worthy place candidate first up.

Winning Form Comment: Duke Of Marmalade gelding. Brother to: EMERALD BAND3g( 5: 2, 2).

Race 6 – 14:35
2000m – Track & Ball Gaming Maiden Plate (Fillies)

8 – Mrs Hotline
Trainer: Alyson Wright
Jockey: Tristan Godden
Wgt: 60.0kg
Draw: 8 (14 Runners)
Predicted Betting: 10/1

She stayed on well in the closing stages of her last run, when stepping up to the 1800m on her return from a 3-month absence. Drawn in gate 8, she’ll be looking for a midfield position and we should start to see the best of her over this 2000m trip. Tristan Godden retains the ride and this daughter of Irish Flame looks to have decent place credentials in this line up.

Winning Form Comment: 2nd run after rest. Two fair runs produced. Will enjoy the extra furlong on offer. Can earn.

Race 7 – 15:15
2000m – Stay Safe With a Mask MR 69 Handicap

2 – Might Smart
Trainer: Paul Lafferty
Jockey: Sean Veale
Wgt: 62.0kg
Draw: 2 (16 Runners)
Predicted Betting: 14/1

He seemed to be back to himself last time out, when moving up to a prominent position 400m from home before staying on well in the closing stages. That was despite the mile being short of his best trip and the step up to 2000m is exactly what he will be looking for now. He does have 62kg to shoulder, but with Sean Veale retaining the ride he should be able to find the first 4 places in this class.

Winning Form Comment: 2nd run after rest. Best MR:82. Finished behind number 5 last time. Will enjoy the rise in trip.

5 – Bhakka
Trainer: Darryl Moore
Jockey: Craig Zackey
Wgt: 63.0kg
Draw: 5 (16 Runners)
Predicted Betting: 5/2

He ran an absolute blinder last time out, when finishing fastest of all but unfortunately the line came too soon for this son of Wylie Hall. That was over the mile and we really weren’t expecting him to be that effective over a trip that is short of his best. He now steps up to the 2000m and reverts to the poly track for his second run back, and he is going to relish the extra ground. With that said, he does have a hefty 63kgs to shoulder and that could make things a lot tougher this time. Craig Zackey retains the ride and with the above in mind, he should have a solid each way chance.

Winning Form Comment: 2nd run after rest. Best MR:74. Eye-catching latest. Should be tough to beat.

13 – Storm Ruler
Trainer: Alyson Wright
Jockey: Reserve Runner
Wgt: 60.5kg
Draw: * (16 Runners)
Predicted Betting: 20/1

A first reserve, we’ll be hoping for a withdrawal of one of the raced runners. If he does end up getting a run, he should be a big factor in this class. The son of Silvano is very well handicapped at this stage of his career and he has certainly been effective over this course and distance. If not this time  around, he should be a big factor in these sort of conditions when he does eventually get his chance.

Winning Form Comment: Rested 21 wks. Best MR:71. Unlucky last time. Loves this c&d. Follow.
