Saturday 21 March 2020
Turffontein Standside

Race 2 – 13:30
1160m – Maiden Juvenile Plate

10 – Phinda Mzala
Trainer: Clinton Binda
Jockey: Piere Strydom
Wgt: 60.0kg
Draw: 14 (15 Runners)
Predicted Betting: 7/1

The step up to the 1450m last time probably came a bit too soon for the son of Philanthropist and he should enjoy the drop back to 1160m here. Piere Strydom takes the mount which makes for an ideal jockey booking. If he switches off in the early parts, he should give a much-improved effort here and he is certainly one to consider for the places.

Winning Form Comment: Is better than moderate latest. Strydom retains the ride and chance on penultimate.

12 –Ramchandani Road
Trainer: Clinton Binda
Jockey: Chase Maujean
Wgt: 60.0kg
Draw: 3 (15 Runners)
Predicted Betting: 20/1

This well related son of Pathfork comes into this race underdone. With this being  his debut, the experience should do him the world of good and it will bring him on nicely.

Winning Form Comment: Brother to:AGRA10m(11: 5, 1),PERFECT SYMMET4g( 4: 1, 2). *Pathfork gelding.

Race 4 – 14:40
1160m – Maiden Plate (Fillies and Mares)

1 – Afriel
Trainer: Clinton Binda
Jockey: Piere Strydom
Wgt: 60.0kg
Draw: 10 (18 Runners)
Predicted Betting: 4/1

She had excuses in her last outing down in KZN and despite her popularity in the betting markets, her effort can be considered well below what she is capable of. Her work has been very good since then and she will relish the extra ground on offer here. Piere Strydom takes the mount and if she is in the mood on the day, she will be one of the leading contenders at the business end.

Winning Form Comment: 2nd run after rest. Ignore comeback run as had excuses. Has a decent shout on penultimate run.

2 – Blessed Rain
Trainer: Stuart Pettigrew
Jockey: Diego De Gouveia
Wgt: 60.0kg
Draw: 17 (18 Runners)
Predicted Betting: 16/1

She hasn’t quite been herself since that very promising debut effort, when finishing behind the highly regarded True To Life. With that said, her work has been very encouraging in recent times and if she brings her track form to the races, she will be involved in the finish. The stable are of the opinion that she is far better than a maiden and we’ll be expecting a top three finish here.

Winning Form Comment: Rested 10 wks. Had excuses in latest. Comes off a break. Has a chance if fit and well.

Race 8 – 17:00
1000m – Bettingworld.Bet Graduation Plate

3 – Jozi Hustle
Trainer: Clinton Binda
Jockey: Jeffrey Syster (-2.5kg)
Wgt: 57.0kg
Draw: 1 (9 Runners)
Predicted Betting: 20/1

He was a very convincing winner last time out, when making the trip to KZN and rewarding his followers with an expected win. He now enters unknown territory where he lines up against much stronger opposition. With that said, the 2.5kg claim will help and he should give a useful account of himself. It would be a big surprise if he goes into any sort of contention for the winners enclosure.

Winning Form Comment: Won maiden with ease on the polytrack. Takes on stronger, but has scope.

Saturday 21 March 2020
Durbanville Racecourse

Race 8 – 17:20
1400m – Maiden Plate

1 – Maitland Magic
Trainer: Brett Crawford
Jockey: Corne Orffer
Wgt: 60.0kg
Draw: 3 (12 Runners)
Predicted Betting: 3/1

He just needed that comeback run last time out, when returning to the race course for his first run as a gelding and he gave the impression that he will enjoy the extra ground. This will be his last run in the Cape and we will be looking for him to get the better of this field before he makes the journey up to KZN. He is doing very well and we will be disappointed if he doesn’t win this time.

Winning Form Comment: Good first run as a gelding. The extra furlong may suit. Big runner.

Sunday 22 March 2020
Hollywoodbets Greyville

Race 2 – 13:20
1400m – Maiden Plate

13 – Mrs Hotline
Trainer: Alyson Wright
Jockey: Tristan Godden
Wgt: 60.0kg
Draw: Tristan Godden
Predicted Betting: 14/1

She didn’t show much in her barrier trial, although she is bred to go much further. With that in mind, we will be hoping for a decent debut and the run should bring her on.

Winning Form Comment: *Irish Flame filly(Cost R 50000).

Race 6 – 15:40
1600m – Kings Cup (Listed)

5 – Seattle Force
Trainer: Darryl Moore
Jockey: Muzi Yeni
Wgt: 57.5kg
Draw: 5 (11 Runners)
Predicted Betting: 12/1

He was very disappointing in his latest effort, when not showing us the early tempo we have become accustomed to. He is far better than that run and we will be expecting him to be back to his old ways soon. The decision was made to start from scratch and drop him back to the 1600m where he won four starts back. Drawn well, he will be looking for the early lead and, with his Turffontein Inside track record in mind, he should suit the tight Hollywoodbets Greyville circuit. On his best form, he will be a big runner here and must be included in all bets.

Winning Form Comment: Ex Pettigrew S T-2020.02.16. Best MR:108. Likely frontrunner, has first run for new stable.

Race 8 – 16:50
1200m – Hollywoodbets Bright Future MY 67 Handicap

3 – Alphamikefoxtrot
Trainer: Darryl Moore
Jockey: S’manga Khumalo
Wgt: 58.0kg
Draw: 3 (17 Runners)
Predicted Betting: 7/1

He was running on strongly in his latest effort, when overcoming a wide draw over the 1000m and he now steps up to the 1200m from a plum barrier, with S’manga Khumalo regaining the ride. Despite the fact that he is better on the Poly, he is certainly no slouch on this surface having gone close over this course and distance three starts back. He has landed on a competitive mark of 63 and on his current form, he should be involved in the finish.

Winning Form Comment: Was making steady progress last time. Re-unites with Khumalo. Consider.

5 – Seventh Son
Trainer: Darryl Moore
Jockey: Athandiwe Mgudlwa
Wgt: 57.5kg
Draw: 5 (17 Runners)
Predicted Betting: 20/1

It was a decent effort last time out, when returning from an 11 week rest. That after receiving treatment for two minor knee chips and he is doing a lot better now. Having won over the 6-furlongs twice before, he should have no real issue with this step up in trip and he will strip a much fitter horse now. From a useful barrier, we expect him to make some improvement on that latest effort and that should bring him into contention for minor money.

Winning Form Comment: Ex Binda C-2019.12.16. 2nd run after rest. Fair latest. Should strip fitter.

15 – Jerry The Juggler
Trainer: Alyson Wright
Jockey: Reserve Runner
Wgt: 55.5kg
Draw: 15 (17 Runners)
Predicted Betting: 7/1

That was a very encouraging effort last time out, when this son of Master Of My Fate landed an improved draw over the 1400m. He continues to slip in the ratings and off his current mark of 58 he is starting to look very threatening. A first reserve here, we will need to see one of the carded runners withdrawn in order for him to line up at the start. If he does get a run, he will be very competitive.

Winning Form Comment: Found form return in latest and the drop back to six furlongs should suit.
