Greyville Racecourse

Race 3 – 12:50
1200m – Maiden Plate

7 – Blow Me Down
Trainer: Clinton Binda
Jockey: Calvin Habib
Wgt: 57.0kg
Draw: 3(10)
Predicted Betting: 5/1

He has travelled well in all three of his starts, before just tiring in the late stages. However, he has strengthened up with every run and still has plenty of scope for big improvement. He has landed a prime draw for his local debut and should take well to this change of surface. On paper, he looks to have a nice chance against what appears to be a rather moderate field. We give him a solid each way chance.

Winning Form Comment: Just off them in all three starts so far. Makes local debut on Poly and drawn well.

Race 5 – 14:00
1200m – KZN Breeders 1200m (Non-Black Type)

6 – Uncle Charlie
Trainer: Garth Puller
Jockey: Warren Kennedy
Wgt: 53.0kg
Draw: 5(15)
Predicted Betting: 4/1

He ran a solid race in his last start, when returning from a 22 week rest. That was from a wide draw, over this course and distance and the blinkers seemed to be key to his remarkable fast finish. He has landed a much improved draw this time around and Warren Kennedy takes the mount. He steps up in class and is well under sufferance at the weights, but he strips a much fitter horse after his comeback run. He would prefer an extra furlong, but seeing that he drew so well here and he has gone close in both of his attempts over this trip, it made sense to run him. If building on that last C&D effort, he should be in the late scramble for the line and looks a nice place bet.

Winning Form Comment: Solid comeback this C&D last time with blinkers. Better draw today.
