Upcoming Weekend Runners – Hollywoodbets Greyville – Sunday 9 August 2020

After a decent run of form this week, the Hollywood Syndicate has three runners to look out for at Hollywoodbets Greyville this Sunday 9 August. See more about what we expect here.

Sunday 9th August 2020
Hollywoodbets Greyville

Race 4 – 14:10
1400m – www.tabgold.co.za Maiden Plate

5 – Ibutho
Trainer: Alyson Wright
Jockey: Richard Fourie
Wgt: 60.0kg
Draw: 5 (14 Runners)
Predicted Betting: 7/1

This son of Duke Of Marmalade put up an encouraging effort behind the likes of Willow Express on debut, with the latter having since gone on to finish a respectable 5th in Group 2 company in his follow up attempt. Ibutho has benefited immensely from that debut outing and he lands a plum draw for his return to the same trip, on Turf. Richard Fourie makes for an encouraging jockey booking and with the expected improvement to come, he should have a cracking chance of finding the winners enclosure.

Winning Form Comment: Brother to: EMERALD BAND 4g ( 6: 2, 3). Fair debut over this distance when beaten by a fair sort. Will come on from the experience.

Race 7 – 15:55
2000m – www.trackandball.co.za Merit Rated 68 Handicap

5 – Mighty Smart
Trainer: Paul Lafferty
Jockey: Sean Veale
Wgt: 58.0kg
Draw: 5 (14 Runners)
Predicted Betting: 20/1

He has had his issues of late and things haven’t quite gone his way in recent times, but as a result of his below par performances since cracking his maiden he has been treated very kindly by the handicapper. Off a mark of 66, he is in a division where he should have a useful chance of finding his best form. Sean Veale takes the mount from a plum draw and if he is able to build on his penultimate run over this trip, he should be able to make the necessary improvement to find the top 6 places.

Winning Form Comment: Best MR:82. Poor form since maiden triumph. Needs big improvement.

11 – Storm Ruler
Trainer: Cliffie Miller
Jockey: Lyle Hewitson
Wgt: 58.5kg
Draw: 11 (14 Runners)
Predicted Betting: 4/1

He has now landed on a rating of 65 for his peak run back after a forced absence from racing. He  lines up in this 2000m event after two encouraging comeback efforts and should be cherry ripe for this outing. Lyle Hewitson sticks with the ride for his stable debut and from a tricky barrier he may be forced to drop him out in the early stages. With that said, he has shown that he possesses a solid turn of foot and this 7 year old son of Silvano looks well set up to feature prominently in the finish. With a bit of luck in running he should have a very good each way chance.

Winning Form Comment: Ex Wright A J-2020.07.27. 3rd run after rest. Best MR:71. Makes stable debut.
