Upcoming Weekend Runners – Greyville- Saturday 1st June 2019 & Turffontein – Sunday 2nd June 2019

We have a few exciting runners with good winning chances, to look forward to this weekend. Purple Persuasion kicks off the weekend in the Greyville opener, on Saturday. Then in race 3, the smart Querari by the name of Binary Star leads a solid Syndicate coupling with Winter Twilight lining up in the same race. Then on Sunday at the Turffontein Inside track, the big galloper Seattle Force has a firm chance at landing a hat-trick of wins in the 7th race. See more about their chances here.

Saturday 1st June 2019
Greyville Racecourse

Race 1 – 12:05
1200m – Juvenile Plate

4 – Purple Persuasion
Trainer: Alyson Wright
Jockey: Ashton Arries
Wgt: 60.0kg
Draw: 1(9)
Current Betting:  7/1

She has come on in leaps and bounds since her last outing, where she won over the same distance. Lyle Hewitson was looking to ride her again, however the stable elected to go with Ashton Arries. He has struck up a nice relationship with this filly at home, as she is a rather difficult horse and he seems to get the best out of her. From gate 1, we expect her to be right up there with the early speed and she shouldn’t miss the places. She should present some nice each way value.

Winning Form Comment: Rates a danger on good latest win this trip.

Race 3 – 13:15
1000m – Maiden Plate

2 – Winter Twilight
Trainer: Clinton Binda
Jockey: Jason Gates (-2.5kg)
Wgt: 60.0kg
Draw: 7(8)
Current Betting: 11/2

He has had one attempt over this C&D, where he ran a respectable 3rd. Going on his last start, he should benefit nicely from the 2.5kg claim and we expect him to give another good account of himself.

Winning Form Comment: In fair form and 2.5kg claimer will help. Respect.

6 – Binary Star
Trainer: Alyson Wright
Jockey: Lyle Hewitson
Wgt: 57.0kg
Draw: 5(8)
Current Betting: 5/2

We expected a nice run from this Querari colt on debut and as expected, he delivered a solid finish to get his career going. Lyle Hewitson takes the mount this time around and from a much improved draw, he’ll settle in a slightly more prominent early position. If this race was on the Turf we would almost make him a racing certainty, but he reverts to the poly for this outing. If he takes to the surface he should win.

Winning Form Comment: Good debut when running on late. Should be right there.

Sunday 2nd June 2019
Turffontein Inside

Race 7 – 16:15
1800m – MR 86 Handicap

6 – Seattle Force
Trainer: Stuart Pettigrew
Jockey: Diego De Gouveia
Wgt: 58.0kg
Draw: 5(10)
Predicted Betting: 5/1

This horse has just flourished since his last start and he comes into this race as well as he could be. We are planning to get his rating up so he becomes eligible for a few big features down the line, hence the option to go for this MR 86 Handicap. Ideally we would’ve preferred a 2000m, but there have been few to come by of late. He drew well here and he is doing so well at home, we decided to give him the run. He’ll be handy once again and we expect him to skip clear from the rest of the field at the top of the straight. If so, the drop in trip shouldn’t be a factor and he’ll be a very hard horse to catch in the closing stages.

Winning Form Comment: Improving sort with solid form. The one to beat.
