He has battled since arriving in KZN to face stronger opposition, but he now steps out for his third run after that absence from racing and he should be cherry-ripe for this. Having dropped significantly in class for this outing, the big question mark now points towards how well he will fair over the 1200m as he seems to fall over the line in his 1000m trips. Calvin Habib takes the mount for the first time and we’ll be looking for some signs of improvement here.
Winning Form Comment: 3rd run after rest. Best MR:75. Showed pace in both local runs. Should be cherry-ripe, can improve.

She has battled since notching up her second win in March 2019 but a significant factor here is that she has dropped back to a rating of 68 where she picked up that victory. Now under the care of Cliffie Miller, she gets the services of Marco van Rensburg and we’ll be hoping for an improved performance here. With that said, she does take a slight rise in class here and hopefully that handy galloping mass of 54kg will provide some room for improvement.

Donavan Dillon rides again and she has a tricky draw to negate for her second run after a rest. She has progressed nicely since her first up run which she needed badly. She has tightened a bit but will probably still need this race to bring her to her peak. In saying that the step up to 1400m and back against her own sex will assist, but our gut feeling is that she will still need one more run after that extended lay off.

4 – Maitland Magic (Pictured)

Maitland Magic returns to the races this Monday and Anton Marcus retains the ride, jumping from a beneficial 4 draw. He has come through his easy last win very well and has tightened up nicely. Being his first run out the maidens we always have to be cautious but he appears to be holding his form on the track and a repeat of his last run should see him being competitive again in what looks like a tricky race.
Winning Form Comment: 2nd run after rest. Gelded 2019.12.17. Best MR:76. Won maiden with ease. Looks to have scope.

He showed good improvement last time out when stepping up to the 1400m. That was at Hollywoodbets Scottsville and he now returns to the Hollywoodbets Greyville Polytrack where he picked up his 2nd career win just three starts back. With this being his third run after a rest he should be cherry ripe for this outing and he should be one of the leading contenders in this company.
