Upcoming Midweek Runners: 10th March 2020 – 12th March 2020

Eight runners will line up for the Hollywood Syndicate this week, kicking off at the Vaal Classic Track on Tuesday 10th March. Thereafter, we move to the Hollywoodbets Greyville Pollytrack on Wednesday 11th March where White Cedar and Purple Nkanyezi appear to be our best winning chances on the day. Blessed Rain has her peak run after a rest at the Vaal on Thursday 12th March and if she reproduces her work at home, she will be a major contender. See more about their chances as well as out other runners here.

Tuesday 10th March 2020
Vaal Classic

Race 3 – 14:10
1000m – Maiden Plate (Fillies and Mares)

3 – Lady Scarletina
Trainer: Clinton Binda
Jockey: Chase Maujean
Wgt: 60.0kg
Draw: 3 (12 Runners)
Predicted Betting: 14/1

She is much better than her stable debut suggests and if there was anything to take from that modest effort, the run has brought her on and she should strip fitter this time. Her work at home has been decent and she will be expected to show vast improvement here.

Winning Form Comment: Needed stable debut. Should strip fitter and can improve.

7 – Great Glory
Trainer: Clinton Binda
Jockey: Jeffrey Syster (-2.5kg)
Wgt: 60.0kg
Draw: 5 (12 Runners)
Predicted Betting: 20/1

She has her first run for the stable, under our ownership and considering the fact that she last ran in November, she will just need this outing to bring her on. A speedy daughter of Great Britain, Jeffrey Syster takes the mount and she should finish in mid-division.

Winning Form Comment: Fair effort last time. Runs well over this distance.

Wednesday 11th March 2020
Hollywoodbets Greyville Polytrack

Race 6 – 16:00
1200m – Durban View Restaurant MR 78 Handicap

2 – Winter Twilight
Trainer: Darryl Moore
Jockey: Athandiwe Mgudlwa
Wgt: 57.5kg
Draw: 2 (10 Runners)
Predicted Betting: 25/1

He has suffered with soundness issues since the start of his career, but since implementing a more focused treatment program he seems to be doing a lot better now. He will be in need of this run, but both of his career victories have come over this course and distance so he certainly enjoys the Poly. From a useful draw, he should finish in the top half of the field and we expect that he will come on a lot from this run.

Winning Form Comment: Makes stable debut. Likes this course and can place.

10 – White Cedar
Trainer: Alyson Wright
Jockey: Tristan Godden
Wgt: 57.0kg
Draw: 10 (10 Runners)
Predicted Betting: 4/1

He is doing very well at home currently and we couldn’t be more pleased with his work. With him fast approaching a competitive rating, he appears to be well handicapped in a field such as this one. Stable jockey, Tristan Godden takes the mount he will be tasked with overcoming a tricky draw to find a relatively handy position. With a bit of luck in running, he should have a nice each way chance.

Winning Form Comment: Is better than latest. Drops back in class and chance if overcoming wide draw.

Race 7 – 16:30
1200m – Greyville Convention Centre MR 90 Handicap (Fillies and Mares)

2 – Purple Nkanyezi
Trainer: Garth Puller
Jockey: Luke Ferraris
Wgt: 55.0kg
Draw: 2 (11 Runners)
Predicted Betting: 10/1

A talented daughter of Oratorio, she has just had the two outings at handicap level and still shown signs of greenness in both outings. With that said, the penny is starting to drop with her and she will soon be sent over a bit more ground where we will start to see the best of her. With that said, the plum draw is certainly going to help her find a prominent early position and with champion apprentice Luke Ferraris jumping back aboard, she certainly has the credentials to throw down the gauntlet and be one of the leading contenders for the winners enclosure.

Winning Form Comment: Fair latest in strong company. Ferraris back in the saddle and chance from a good draw.

Thursday 12th March 2020
Vaal Turf

Race 3 – 14:10
1200m – Maiden Plate (Fillies and Mares)

1 – Blessed Rain
Trainer: Stuart Pettigrew
Jockey: Diego De Gouveia
Wgt: 60.0kg
Draw: 9 (13 Runners)
Predicted Betting: 10/1

A filly loaded with ability, she works like a train but is yet to reproduce that on the race course. Her coughing issues have been well documented and we are pleased that none of those symptoms have been prevalent for over 3-months now. This will be her peak run after that 33 week absence from the course and trainer Stuart Pettigrew has now opted to send her over the 1200m for the first time. It doesn’t appear to be a field of ‘world beaters’, so if all goes to plan and she brings her work to the course she should finish in the first 4 places.

Winning Form Comment: Had excuses in latest. Has peak run and can feature on best form.

Race 4 – 14:45
1200m – Maiden Plate

5 – Zig Zag
Trainer: Clinton Binda
Jockey: Sherman Brown
Wgt: 60.0kg
Draw: 4 (16 Runners)
Predicted Betting: 33/1

He hasn’t shown much so far and his limitations are becoming clearer. With that said, time may be running out for this son of Twice Over and if he does take part we will be hoping that he shows some improvement.

Winning Form Comment: Carded To Race – 05.03.2020.

9 – Freon
Trainer: Clinton Binda
Jockey: Jeffrey Syster (-2.5kg)
Wgt: 60.0kg
Draw: 9 (16 Runners)
Predicted Betting: 80/1

He has shown very little so far and if no improvement is forthcoming this time, it may be his last start.

Winning Form Comment: Has had issues at the start in both runs. Needs to show improvement to feature here.
