UPDATES – East Coast Star

September 6th, 2021
East Coast Star has been officially retired from racing. She ends her career with 13 runs, 0 wins and 3 places. She has joined the Hollywoodbets Life After Racing Programme, where we aim to find her a forever home following her racing career.

September 3rd, 2021
She had her first run for the Gavin Smith stable over 1200m on the Fairview turf track. She reared as the start was effected and never got into the race. She will be given one more chance over further and she will need to show good improvement.

February 11th, 2021
East Coast Star moving well up the hill at the end of her pace work this morning. She has just overcome two foot abscesses, one in front and one behind, which have fortunately been resolved. Some treadmill work has helped the yard keep her in good enough shape to get straight back into her work regime. She will gallop this week ahead of her next start over 1400m on the Hollywoodbets Greyville poly, on 24 February.

January 24th, 2021
It was rather disappointing that she remains a maiden after the promise she showed earlier on. She had every chance of winning this time, but never quickened as well as she should’ve. See the replay here.

January 8th, 2021
East Coast Star, near side, at work this morning. She runs on Wednesday 13 January, at Hollywoodbets Scottsville, in a 1400m F&M Maiden. Donavan Dillon will ride jumping from an awkward 8 draw. She still holds onto her condition but she does however seem cleaner in her wind, so hopefully all the extra work is paying dividends. She looks the one to beat on paper in a field with not a lot of form to recommend.

December 8th, 2020
East Coast Star has come through yesterdays run in perfect order. She has eaten up and was trotting out sound this morning. She does look marginally tighter for the run, but the stable is still going to have to keep her “in the army” and “up the anti” with her to get her to shed some more excess condition.

It was obviously very disappointing that she was beaten on the day and we know she is a lot better that that performance. After being left to scratch our heads as to why she didn’t win, the only excuse that we can come up with is that the run came too soon, having run just 8 days ago at Hollywoodbets Scottsville.

She will now head to a Fillies and Mares Maiden over 1400m, on the Hollywoodbets Greyville Polytrack on 23 December 2020.See the replay of her run here.

December 7th, 2020
East Coast Star completing her final work out on Sunday morning, before her run today in Race 3 at Hollywoodbets Greyville Racecourse. She has taken her run last week very well and should strip fitter for her race. She is gradually tightening up and the step up to 1400m from the good draw will suit. Against this sort of opposition she is one of the leading contenders in the race and should be tough to beat

November 29th, 2020
It was a decent effort by this filly today, but we are of the opinion that she will definitely relish the extra ground next time out. The blinkers will also be removed as she seemed to take a bit of a hold with them on today. See the replay here.

November 27th, 2020
East Coast Star sharp up the hill this morning. She continues to step up and has tightened up more this week. She will still take further improvement from her run but is forward enough to do herself justice and should be involved in the finish at Hollywoodbets Scottsville on Sunday.

November 17th, 2020
East Coast Star, inside, galloping this morning. She continues to do well despite a small scare with her last week when she cast herself in her box. She had to have a course of antibiotics as she had a few nasty cuts, but fortunately hasn’t missed any work.

She will be entered to race on Friday 27/11/20, in a maiden fillies 1400m on the Hollywoodbets Greyville turf.

October 8th, 2020
She has come through her encouraging debut run in perfect order. She ate up last night and is trotting out freely this morning. The stable feel that she will benefit from a step up to 1400m and will now head towards a maiden fillies on October 28th, 2020 on the Greyville poly.

October 7th, 2020
East Coast Star made a very pleasing debut when running second in a field that certainly had a bit of depth to it. She behaved perfectly in the preliminaries and broke on terms but then required driving to find her position. Donovan Dillon said she was green in the run with horses around her but once in the clear she found her stride, running on nicely to the line. See the replay here.

September 3rd, 2020
She is going well but has an iron constitution and is just holding on to her condition a bit too well. Long term this is good as it will allow the stable to get some serious work into her. She will need one final workout on the grass before she heads to the races towards the end of September. Seen here, closest to the camera and working alongside stable companion Mrs Hotline.

May 17th, 2020
Two very exciting 2-year old fillies working alongside one another this morning. Closest to the camera is East Coast Star, previously know as Sunnegga. On the far side is My Rapid Lady (Master Of My Fate x Aquila Rapax by Western Winter). Both fillies were bred by Lammerskraal Stud, purchased by the Hollywood Syndicate at the 2019 BSA National Yearling Sale.

April 9th, 2020
She is bred for a mile plus and she has shown plenty of ability so far. Seen here on the inside of our 3-year old filly in the form of Anika The Angel, at Summerveld this morning.

April 4th, 2020
This filly has really thrived over the summer and she grown into quite a big filly. Seen during the week looking in exceptional shape.

August 24th, 2019
One of the most exciting fillies we have had the fortune of buying at this years 2019 BSA National Yearling Sale, she has certainly turned heads and has done everything asked of her, with effortless ease.

August 1st, 2019
She has one exceptionally well since settling in at Robbie Dawsons spelling farm and has become one of the farm favourites. If she continues on this trajectory, we should have an exciting filly to look forward to.
