Friday 22 February 2019
Greyville Polytrack

Race 1 – 17:10
1100m – Maiden Plate

3 – Winter Twilight
Trainer: Clinton Binda
Jockey: Jason Gates (-2.5kg)
Wgt: 60.0kg
Draw: 8(10)
Predicted Betting: 5/1

He is back in KZN for his first attempt on the Greyville Polytrack. Still a maiden after 10 runs, but he is certainly going the right way. He gets the services of an inform apprentice, who is riding above his claim of 2.5kg’s and that is a big advantage. The 8 draw shouldn’t be too much of a problem and going on the way he travels, he should enjoy this surface. On his penultimate run, we make him a big runner and a good each way bet to start off the meeting.

Winning Form Comment: Gauteng visitor with definite chance on penultimate run.

Race 10 – 16:05
1000m – Barrier Trial

8 – Simply Russian
Trainer: Garth Puller
Jockey: Serino Moodley
Wgt: 56.0kg
Draw: 4

Purchased at the 2018 KZN Yearling Sale, she has turned into a very smart filly. She is the 3rd foal from this mare, with the first two being black type winners and she certainly has the appearance of a feature race filly. She has put up some very smart work at home and we are looking forward to seeing how she handles this trial on Friday. It will be an excellent learning curve for her first official start in a few weeks.

Sunday 24th February 2019
Greyville Polytrack

Race 8 – 17:05
1400m – MR64 Handicap

2 – Mocha Rose
Trainer: Duncan Howells
Jockey: Mark Khan
Wgt: 59.5kg
Draw: 11(15)
Predicted Betting: 5/1

She takes on the boys after progressing nicely since leaving the maidens and she is fast approaching a competitive merit rating. This is her peak run after a short rest and going on her last run where she showed tremendous guts and determination, she has a little shout at the winners box on this occasion. She will most certainly give place punters a very good run for their money.

Winning Form Comment: 3rd run after a rest. Gutsy last attempt, stiff task against the boys but progressive.
