He was in desperate need of his last run, when returning from a 26 week absence from racing. That was after he went lame in his penultimate start, an outing which he ended up winning. From pole position this time around, he steps up to the 1400m where he may find the distance a touch on the far side but he will strip a lot fitter now and if given a more patient ride he has the credentials to show good improvement.

He gave a very good account of himself when finally stepping up to a trip where he is much better suited. The form line of that race has worked out well and that adds some credibility to his effort on that occasion. He will have a tricky draw to overcome this time, but if forced to settle off the early pace, he possesses a solid turn of foot and he certainly knows how to turn it on. With that said, he hasn’t been to the course since that run mentioned above and the 12 week absence from racing will mean that he may just need this outing.
