February 28th, 2025
637 – IGUGULETHU gets up where it matters most to close off the meeting over 1400m on the Fairview turf track. He was given a well-timed ride by Craig Zackey to notch up his second-career victory. INT – ISIVUNGUVUNGU finished 3rd in the Listed Tampa Dash Stakes over 5 furlongs (1000m) at Tampa Bay Downs in Florida, USA. It was the perfect run for the five-year-old Isivunguvungu as it should put him in just the right place for his continued preparation towards his April 5 engagement in the Grade 1 Al Quoz Sprint on Dubai World Cup night. 636 – CONCERTO shares the spoils in Race 5 over 1600m on the Fairview polytrack this afternoon, after dead-heating with State Secret. 635 – JOU LEKKER DING returned to winning ways over 1400m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth this afternoon. The daughter of Oratorio was given a strong ride by Ridgemont-sponsored Gareth Wright and is now a two-time winner. She is trained by Vaughan Marshall and is bred by Avontuur Thoroughbred Farm. 634 – KWAGGA BLITZ sheds his maiden tag over 1400m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville this afternoon. He was sent to the front under Hollywood Racing-retained Jockey Sean Veale and kept finding to hold on at the finish. The son of Captain Of All is trained by Hollywoodbets-sponsored Clinton Binda and is bred by Walter and Fran Cowe (Black Swan Stud). The name is reference to Kwagga Smith’s time as a Springbok 7’s player (Blitzbokke), as well as his versatility as an impact player, which literally blitzed the opposition in this past Rugby World Cup. 633 – KING OF SPIN wins Race 4 over 1400m on the Hollywoodbets Greyville polytrack this evening. He was given a well-timed ride by Sporting Post-sponsored Jockey Sean Veale and is now a three-time winner. The son of Canford Cliffs is trained by Hollywoodbets-sponsored Stuart Ferrie and is bred by Ridgemont. King Of Spin is named by Brand Ambassador Keshav Maharaj who is celebrating his birthday today. Indebe Mayibuye is isiXhosa rugby for the “the trophy/cup must return” or “may the trophy/cup return.” Inspired by the Springboks victory in the RWC 2019 and 2023, and the dam being Trophy Wife.
