A first foal from the mare, he is from the same family that produced LOVE IS IN THE AIR and CAREFUL LANDING. A great mover and from a black-type winning mare who succeeded over 1200-1400m, he will more than likely be looking for a mile later on.
Updates – Phinda Mzala
September 16th, 2021
He was returning from a 14-week break and took his place in a 1000m contest on the Vaal Classic course. He showed good pace, but showed signs of needing the run in the closing stages. He will come on from the run and should have plenty of improvement to come.

He was in need of his effort today as he was returning from a 16-week break. He will come on with the run under his belt and should show good signs of a form return in his next start. See the replay here.

He didn’t travel as well as we would’ve liked, but that wasn’t unexpected due to the uneven going. With that said, he finished within 3 lengths of the winner and should be a leading contender once again next time. See the replay of his run here.

Phinda Mzala wins the 2nd race at the Vaal in emphatic style today. Well done to the Clinton Binda stable, apprentice Jeffrey Syster and breeders Ridgemont Highlands. Great to kick off spring on a winning note.

He gave a very good account of himself on debut. Travelling between the 250m and 100m markers, Phinda Mzala was carried out significantly by a horse called Magic Blaze, which shifted out continuously away from the crop. Despite this, the former managed to get going again and he ran on nicely in the closing stages. He now steps up slightly in trip and if finding a smooth passage this time, we expect him to go a lot closer to winning and he should have a nice each way chance.

He’s growing nicely and settled in well. A colt that will need some time, we expect to see him start to show more towards the summer. A recent photo of him below.

He has just arrived at Clinton Bindas, where he will have time to mature over the next few months before he is broken in.
