UPDATES – Purple Moon’s Up

November 11th, 2021
Purple Moon’s Up is moving stables to the Gareth van Zyl yard. She has been a difficult horse to train, and will hopefully come on with the change.

August 21st, 2021
She was not disgraced when finishing third behind fellow Hollywood Syndicate horse, Travelling Light over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville today. She is slowly showing signs of returning to best form and it should not be long before she notches up her third career victory.

July 18th, 2021
She ran a creditable race, finishing fifth over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Greyville. There was some scrimmaging in the early stages and after settling at the rear of the field, she finished her race off well. See the replay here.

May 29th, 2021
A line can be put through her race today as she was slow into stride and when a horse came around her on the outside, she overraced and never went on with the effort. She is still lightly raced and there will be a lot more to come from her.

April 11th, 2021
She was ridden to perfection by Muzi Yeni to notch up her second career victory at Hollywoodbets Greyville this afternoon. Well done to trainer Alyson Wright and breeders Narrow Creek Stud. See the replay of her performance here.

March 14th, 2021
It was a fair effort by this filly to run third today, running on strongly in the closing stages. See the replay of her performance here.

February 10th, 2021
It was a solid comeback run by this filly today. She ran on strongly in the closing stages, but was just found wanting over the last 100m where she showed signs of needing the outing. She will come on in leaps and bounds from this run and should be a big factor in her next start. See the replay of todays run here.

October 18th, 2020
It was a bit of a disappointing performance by this filly today. Slow away to start with, she didn’t enjoy the sedate tempo set up front and took a hold of the bit in the early parts of her run. The field turned it into a 400m sprint to the line and by that time she had already run her race. We’ll look to drop her back to the 1200 / 1400m next time out where she will be expected to improve. See the replay of her run here.

September 9th, 2020
Purple Moon’s Up smashes the opposition to pick up her maiden victory in just her second start at Hollywoodbets Greyville today. Well done to the Alyson Wright stable and breeder Narrow Creek Stud. Lyle Hewitson gave her a spectacular ride to overcome a tricky situation when caught out wide in the early stages, but managed to deliver the win in fine style.

April 9th, 2020
Despite taking a while to strengthen up, she is certainly going in the right direction now. She is the chestnut filly on the near side, seen at Summerveld being put through her paces this morning.

August 26th, 2019
This filly is taking things in her stride and has come along nicely, although she is still a touch backward. The KZN spring season is where we will really see her coat turn and things should start to come together nicely for her.

June 12th, 2019
She is currently being broken in by Leckhampton Valley Spelling and Pre Training. She is settled in well and seems to be doing nicely. A recent update from the farm below:

“Moonlight Drive is still slightly immature but she is growing well. She’s such a pleasure to work with but can be a little feisty which is lovely.”
