Upcoming Weekend Runners – Hollywoodbets Greyville – 27th July 2019 & Turffontein Standside – 28th July 2019

It is always nice to have a big runner on a big day, let alone in a big race. Purple Persuasion will be representing the Hollywood Syndicate this Saturday 27th July, in The Debutante GR2 at Hollywoodbets Greyville and she has a great opportunity to earn some black type. Then on Sunday, Seattle Force returns after a solid effort last time out. He will be aiming to find the winners box for his 5th career victory. See more about their chances here.

Saturday 27th July 2019
Hollywoodbets Greyville Racecourse

Race 3 – 13:15
1200m – The Debutante GR2 (2 Year Old Fillies)

8 – Purple Persuasion
Trainer: Alyson Wright
Jockey: Ashton Arries
Wgt: 60.0kg
Draw: 1(14)
Current Betting: 10/1

She is the only filly in the race, to come out of the KZN Yearling Sale Million on Vodacom Durban July day, at the beginning of the month. That was over the 1300m against males and it appears to have been a touch too far her. She drops back to the 1200m in her first attempt at earning some black type and she now lines up against her own sex, from a very useful draw. Ashton Arries regains the ride, having been unlucky on her in her penultimate start. He rides her on a daily basis at work and is one of the few who can get her to settle, thus he seems to be the best fit for her. From gate 1, she will be handy and we expect her to be in the late scramble for the line. She has a good place chance and an outside winning chance.

Winning Form Comment: Disappointed against boys last time & much better this trip. Chance from pole, include.

Sunday 28th July 2019
Turffontein Standside Track

Race 6 – 15:45
2000m – MR 84 Handicap

1 – Seattle Force
Trainer: Stuart Pettigrew
Jockey: Kabelo Matsunyane (-1.5kg)
Wgt: 61.0kg
Draw: 6(8)
Predicted Betting: 5/1

He was fairly beaten by a more advanced older horse last time and considering that he had to overcome a wide draw, he put up a solid performance to stay on for 3rd. That was over the 2400m and he now drops back to the 2000m, which should be in his favour. Being the top weight, he has been partnered up with talented young apprentice – Kabelo Matsunyane who claims 1.5kg. From his customary handy position, he will be a tough horse to catch in the dying stages and we give him a very good each way chance.

Winning Form Comment: In solid form & will enjoy this drop in trip. Big runner.
