Upcoming Weekend Runners – Friday 1st November 2019 & Saturday 2nd November 2019

It’s a busy start to the weekend for the Hollywood Syndicate, with 6-runners to look out for before we reach Sunday. Whiteleaf Hills kicks off our interest down on the Fairview Poly Track on Friday 1st November 2019, before we head up the coast to Hollywoodbets Greyville where we have three runners carded on Friday night. Purple Nkanyezi has her debut in the first race, before Winter Twilight and Uncle Charlie close off proceedings in the 7th and 8th races respectively. On Saturday, we have another debutante in the form of Jozi Hustle – named after out Gauteng Operations Team, who lines up in the 2nd race. Thereafter, Seattle Force (pictured) steps up in trip for his bid at Listed race glory, in the Listed Java Handicap. See more about their chances here.

Friday 1st November 2019
Fairview Poly Track

Race 3 – 13:45
1900m – MR 68 Handicap

7 – Whiteleaf Hills
Trainer: Gavin Smith
Jockey: Muzi Yeni
Wgt: 55.5kg.
Draw: 5 (9 – Runners)
Predicted Betting: 7/1

He returns after that disappointing effort last time out, having shown solid form leading into that effort. The stable are of the view that the run may have come too close to his AHS vaccinations and he now looks set to resume that solid form he showed prior to that run. He has been working well at home and he lands another useful draw, with Muzi Yeni up. He is 3.5kg better off at the weights with the winner of his last start and we expect another good performance from him, as a result. He has a good place chance and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him win either.

Winning Form Comment: 3.5kg’s better off with 1 at the weights. Chance.

Friday 1st November 2019
Hollywoodbets Greyville Poly Track

Race 1 – 17:00
1200m – Maiden Plate (Fillies and Mares)

11 – Purple Nkanyezi
Trainer: Garth Puller
Jockey: Luke J Ferraris
Wgt: 59.0kg
Draw: 4 (11 – Runners)
Predicted Betting: 5/1

She put in a surprising effort in her barrier trial a few weeks ago. That was at Scottsville on the Turf and we certainly didn’t expect to see her show as much speed as she did. She is drawn well for her debut run on the Poly and she should give a solid account of herself, despite the fact that she is going to need the run. Luke Ferraris takes the mount and she could run a place first up, but we’ll wait for her to show us more, before she is tipped with any confidence.

Race 7 – 20:35
1200m – MR 79 Handicap

6 – Winter Twilight
Trainer: Clinton Binda
Jockey: Jason Gates (-1.5kg)
Wgt: 60.0kg
Draw: 5 (10 – Runners)
Predicted Betting: 14/1

He won his last two starts on this surface and has been disappointing since then. With that said, he is fit and his work has been very good. He has a useful draw and Jason Gates jumps back up, having won on him four starts back. He is expected to improve many lengths being back on his favoured surface and should find the first three places.

Winning Form Comment: Shown good form on Poly. Won under this appie in June. Respect.

Race 8 – 21:10
1400m – MR 79 Handicap

2 – Uncle Charlie
Trainer: Garth Puller
Jockey: Serino Moodley
Wgt: 61.5kg
Draw: 1 (12 – Runners)
Predicted Betting: 7/1

He certainly needed that comeback run and wasn’t disgraced, finishing just 3.90 lengths off the winner after a 14 week absence from the course. Drawn in pole this time, he will strip a lot fitter for this return to the same course and distance where he made his return last time. He has been showing some very good work at home and the stable are expecting a big performance from this son of Curved Ball. Serino Moodley takes the mount and he’s a big runner worthy of inclusion in all bets.

Winning Form Comment: Needed comeback run. Drawn pole and will strip fitter.

Saturday 2nd November 2019
Turffontein Standside

Race 2 – 13:40
1160m – Maiden Plate

14 – Jozi Hustle
Trainer: Clinton Binda
Jockey: Calvin Habib
Wgt: 59.0kg
Draw: 10 (22 – Runners)
Predicted Betting: 14/1

His work has been good leading up to this debut run and he confirmed that with a solid grass gallop a few weeks back. Lining up in a twenty horse field on debut does present it’s challenges, as far as setting expectations is concerned. With that said, if he manages to find a clear passage throughout, he is expected to finish in the first four places and could be a nice place bet at a decent price.

Race 12 – 19:55

2400m – Listed Java Handicap

6 – Seattle Force
Trainer: Stuart Pettigrew
Jockey: Marco van Rensburg
Wgt: 54.0kg
Draw: 1 (11 – Runners)
Predicted Betting: 7/1

He showed his versatility last time out, when dropping back to the mile and winning on his return to the course, after a short absence. A key factor to that performance was the fact that he settled really well in the early parts and throughout the running, due to the increased tempo over the shorter trip. He now steps up to the 2400, in Listed company for his bid at the winners cheque of just under R94 000. He won in convincing fashion over the 2600m just 6 runs back, so the trip shouldn’t be much of a concern for him and if the rest of the field allows him to dictate matters in front, he is going to be a major contender at the business end of the race. Marco van Rensburg retains the ride and the yard expect a bold showing from the son of Mambo In Seattle. He should be a nice place bet.

Winning Form Comment: Could dictate from pole. Placed over this trip and is well weighted.
