Unfortunately after taking a fall last week, apprentice jockey Kabelo Matsunyane has been stood down and is replaced by the more than capable apprentice, Dylan Lerena. He claims 2,5kg which is still a considerable advantage.
Alphamikefoxtrot is in good form and has been doing great work at home and we feel that he will make another good account of himself in what appears to be another weak maiden plate. The plan will be to leave him alone and let him use his action early on and hopefully he quickens in the latter stages. This will be in anticipation of sending him over a bit more ground thereafter. If he doesn’t manage to win this time around, he has been entered into a 1400m at Turffontein on Saturday.
Of the unraced horses in this race, Barista and Protea Paradise immediately catch the eye on pedigree and could pose the main dangers in the race, but we feel that Alphamikefoxtrot has a decent place chance.
Winning Form Comment: ALPHAMIKEFOXTROT will enjoy the turn and could get into the mix though he may need a pair of blinkers to be most effective on this fast circuit. Trainer’s only runner today.
