Race 5 – 15:40
1800m – Graduation Plate

1 – HOT CURRY
Trainer: Gavin Smith
Jockey: Muzi Yeni
Wgt: 60kg
Draw: 1 (10)
Odds: 9/2

Hot Curry represents the Hollywood Syndicate at Fairview this time around, having made his way down to the Gavin Smith yard.

His first start for the syndicate at the Vaal was an effort we would like to put a line through, as the report back from the jockey after the race was that he “hated the firm going”. This is obviously synonymous with highveld racing conditions throughout the winter and we have decided to send him to PE where he has the option of the artificial poly track, or the turf track. Neither of which will simulate a concrete highway, which he clearly didn’t enjoy. He has already worked on the poly track and seemed to take it well.

He takes up his position in Race 5 on Friday, a Graduation Plate over 1800m with Muzi Yeni in the irons. The plan will be to bounce him out of stall gate one and let him race handy where he can use his action and we’d like to think he is good enough to finish in the first 4, with this being his first run in the province.

Winning Form comment:
HOT CURRY is an interesting addition to the PE ranks and the former Gauteng resident makes his stable and local debut. He showed fair ability at handicap level over similar distances and though he has much to do at the weights, he could be worth following in this province.
