Vaal Turf

Race 3 – 13:20
1200m – Stay Safe With A Mask Maiden Plate (F&M)

1 – Afriel
Trainer: Clinton Binda
Jockey: Callan Murray
Wgt: 60.0kg
Draw: 1 (13 Runners)
Current Betting: 13/2

She disappointed last time out when having her second run after a rest and we’ll be hoping she finds the form she was showing prior to her rest. Master Of My Fate fillies have well documented temperament issues and that is certainly prevalent in this case. In addition, she has recently overcome a mild soundness issue which may add more question marks to her chances of winning here. With that said, top young rider Callan Murray has asked for the ride and if all goes to plan she will be a big factor in the finish and a place outcome is likely.

Winning Form Comment: Rested 11 wks. Has found betting support in all four starts. Has found the right field. Can win.

Race 9 – 16:45
1000m – Covid-19 National Crisis Helpline 0800 029 999 MR 72 Handicap

1 – Blow Me Down
Trainer: Clinton Binda
Jockey: Piere Strydom
Wgt: 60.0kg
Draw: 5 (12 Runners)
Current Betting: 7/2

He has really progressed well since the start of the year and that was epitomised last time out, when the son of Toreador ran above expectations to finish 2nd. That was just his second start in handicap company since leaving the maidens and he now drops slightly in class for his post Covid-19 lockdown return. Piere Strydom takes the mount this time and the blinkers stay on. If settling just off the pace, he should have a very nice winning chance.

Winning Form Comment: Rested 11 wks. Good effort last time. Runs well over this distance. Can run into the minor money.

Wednesday 10th June 2020
Hollywoodbets Scottsville

Race 7 – 14:50
1600m – Stay Safe With A Mask Pinnacle stakes

7 – Seattle Force
Trainer: Darryl Moore
Jockey: Stuart Randolph
Wgt: 60.0kg
Draw: 7 (12 Runners)
Predicted Betting: 10/1

He gave a very good site last time out at Listed level when finding interference 400m from the finish, before making good late progress for just a 0.80-length defeat. That was when dropping to the mile and he lines up over the same trip on his return to Hollywoodbets Scottsville. The son of Mambo In Seattle has won and placed over the mile now and despite the fact that he is more effective over further, he is very versatile and must be treated with plenty of respect here. Drawn well, Stuart Randolph takes the mount and if allowed to use his action out in front, he could be a very tough target to catch over the final 200m.

Winning Form Comment: Rested 11 wks. Is 1kg better off at the weights with number 1 on latest.

Race 9 – 16:00
1200m – Wash Your Hands MR 78 Handicap

8 – Binary Star
Trainer: Alyson Wright
Jockey: Tristan Godden
Wgt: 60.0kg
Draw: 8 (12 Runners)
Predicted Betting: 14/1

He has really turned the corner over the autumn and he is very well in himself at the moment. His preparation leading up to this outing has been faultless and the son of Querari has now landed on a very competitive mark of 80. He drops in class now and finds conditions to suit over the Hollywoobets Scottsville 1200m. With stable jockey Tristan Godden up, he should have a good place chance and if not too in need of the outing he has the credentials to win in this company.

Winning Form Comment: Rested 14 wks. Gelded 2019.10.01. Took on stronger last time. May be at best over the seven furlongs.

Thursday 9th June 2020
Vaal Classic

Race 4 – 13:35
1000m – Bettingworld.Bet Maiden Plate

12 – Purple Shadow
Trainer: Clinton Binda
Jockey: Diego De Gouveia
Wgt: 60.0kg
Draw: 12 (12 Runners)

She steps out for her second outing here, after showing very little in her debut effort back in February this year. With that said, the top three finishers in that race have since come out and won again which certainly franks the form. She has shown some improvement at home and we’ll be hoping she shows signs of that improvement come race time.

13 – Bahlebonke
Trainer: Clinton Binda
Jockey: Reserve Runner
Wgt: 60.0kg
Draw: 2 (12 runners)

This filly didn’t quite shape on debut and we’ll be hoping she shows a little more this time. The form line of that race has been rather effective and if she manages to get a run here, we’ll be expecting big improvement from this 2-year old Pathfork filly.
