Upcoming Midweek Runners: Monday 3 February 2020 – Thursday 6 February 2020

After landing the double at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Sunday, we head into this week on a high and will be looking for a few more winners to add to our tally. Purple Powahouse (pictured as a yearling) and Blow Me Down appear to be our best winning chances, but see more about them and our other runners’ chances here.

Monday 3rd February 2020
Flamingo Park

Race 5 – 14:50
1300m – Maiden Plate

9 – Pay The Punters
Trainer: Cliffie Miller
Jockey: Calvin Habib
Wgt: 60.0kg
Draw: 9 (12 Runners)
Current Betting: 16/1

He gave a much better account of himself last time out, when making his first appearance on the Flamingo Park sand. He now steps up to the 1300m where he should be far better suited to the more sedate tempo and with further scope for improvement, we expect him to go much closer here. He has a nice place chance in this modest Maiden Plate.

Winning Form Comment: Good improvement in first run on the sand. Will enjoy the extra distance. Can upset.

Tuesday 4th February 2020
Vaal Classic Track

Race 1 – 13:00
1200m – Maiden Plate

5 – Freon
Trainer: Clinton Binda
Jockey: Jeffrey Syster (-2.5kg)
Wgt: 60.0kg
Draw: 1 (15 Runners)
Predicted Betting: 16/1

He hasn’t shown a whole lot at work, but it is time to get going with this son of Dynasty. Jeffrey Syster takes the mount for his debut run and we will all learn a lot from his first outing. There are number of well-bred debutantes in this race, as well as a few raced maidens who are knocking on the door for the winners’ box and due to the competitive nature of this field, we’ll be looking for a top half finish first up.

Wednesday 5th February 2020
Hollywoodbets Scottsville

Race 3 – 13:50
1200m – www.trackandball.co.za Maiden Plate

1 – Purple Powahouse
Trainer: Alyson Wright
Jockey: Tristan Godden
Wgt: 60.0kg
Draw: 1 (17 Runners)
Predicted Betting: 4/1

After his excusable debut, he followed up with a much-improved effort last time out and the outing has bought him on nicely. He returns to the same course and distance and Tristan Godden retains the ride. With many lengths of improvement to come, he will be fighting out the finish and we give him a solid each-way chance.

Winning Form Comment: Improved over this c & d in second start. Has scope to shed maiden tag in this field.

Thursday 6th February
Vaal Classic Track

Race 1 – 12:55
1000m – Workriders Maiden Plate (F&M)

16 – Happy Together
Trainer: Clinton Binda
Jockey: Reserve Runner
Wgt: 60.0kg
Draw: 9 (16 Runners)

A reserve runner in this race, she will have to wait for a withdrawal of one of the other contenders in the field if she is going to have the run. It has been disappointing start to her career so far and if she does line up at the start, we will need to see some improvement or we may have to call time on her racing career.

Winning Form Comment: Others preferred today.

Race 2 – 13:30
1000m – Maiden Plate

1 – Blow Me Down
Trainer: Clinton Binda
Jockey: S’manga Khumalo
Wgt: 60.0kg
Draw: 4 (12 Runners)
Predicted Betting: 3/1

He has improved in each of his last three starts, since returning from a 20 week absence from the course and he looks cherry ripe to get the job done this time. S’manga Khumalo has stuck with the ride and the son of Toreador meets a modest field of maidens this time around. With the above in mind, he is the one to beat.

Winning Form Comment: Decent last three starts over this distance. Merits obvious inclusion.

3 – Jozi Hustle
Trainer: Clinton Binda
Jockey: Jeffrey Syster (-2.5kg)
Wgt: 60.0kg
Draw: 9 (12 runners)
Predicted Betting: 7/1

He showed plenty of speed last time out and ended up staying on well in the closing stages, for a well deserved 2nd. Jeffrey Syster jumps aboard this time and he claims the 2.5kgs off his back which brings him right into the equation. With that said, he will find it tough getting past the stable companion and as such, we give him a solid place chance and it might be worth taking swingers and exactas with the latter.

Winning Form Comment: Good improvement in latest when showing speed. Has a chance if confirms.

Race 3 – 14:05
1450m – Maiden Plate

10 – Masterofmydestiny
Trainer: Clinton Binda
Jockey: Sherman Brown
Wgt: 60.0kg
Draw: 12 (17 Runners)
Predicted Betting: 14/1

He is a very stubborn son of Master Of My Fate and is yet to show us much at home. With that said, this run will be a nice opportunity for us to see exactly where we are with him and it will be a good learning curve for not only the horse, but the team back at home.
