It was an exceptionally good effort by this talented son of What A Winter today. He just needed a lead horse to pull him into the straight, but nevertheless gave the eventual winner plenty of cheek in the dying stages of the race. See the replay here.

Spydas Corner wins the opener at Hollywoodbets Greyville Racecourse this afternoon at a starting price of 25/2. With this being just his second career start, he looks destined for a few more visits to the winner’s enclosure. Well done to the Duncan Howells stable, jockey Luke Ferraris and Rathmor Stud for breeding him.

It was a great experience to have Brian Baloyi on course with the team today, to shout home this horse he named Spydas Corner. We were also lucky enough to get a few snaps at stables, prior to the run. Despite being a little green on debut, he will make big improvement in his next few outings and he should find the winners enclosure soon.

A smallish colt at the time of sale, he has really matured into a smart looking colt. He has been in full training for just over 10 weeks now and we are starting to see quite a lot of class about this son of What A Winter. We should expect to see him debut towards the end of April.
