RALPH THE RASCAL was purchased by the Hollywood Syndicate at the BSA November 2018 Ready To Run Sale. He is a colt by Gimmethegreenlight (AUS) out of the Toreador (IRE) mare, Ice Link. He was consigned by Jane Thomas’ Far End Farms.

Sex: Bay Colt
Foaled: 31/08/2016
Sire: Gimmethegreenlight (AUS)
Mare: Ice Link (Toreador)
Breeder: Moutonshoek Stud
Trainer: Alyson Wright
Purchased: BSA Ready To Run Sale 2018
Pedigree: View Here

Previously known as Ice Rink, he is a smart, beautifully balanced gelding by Gimmethegreenlight (AUS), out of a Toreador (IRE) mare called Ice Link. Ice Link is the half-sister to the likes of PROFIT REPORT, a 9 time winner in SA and Mauritius, including the Falcon Sprint (L), as well as 2nd in the Golden Horseshoe (Gr1); and SEATTLE ICE, an 8 time winner, including the Charity Mile (Gr2). He appears to be a quality sprinter type, having already shown a fair amount of speed in his work so far. We decided to geld him earlier this year, as he was starting to show signs of becoming a bit top heavy.

UPDATES – Ralph The Rascal

February 2nd, 2020
Ralph The Rascal won the 3rd race at Hollywoodbets Greyville today, at just the second time of asking. A beautifully timed ride by Tristan Godden, he picked off the opposition one-by-one and this son of Gimmethegreenlight looks destined for more. Well done to the Alyson Wright team and breeders Moutonshoek.

As his pedigree suggests, he showed plenty of speed in his barrier this afternoon, despite the slow start. He really enjoyed the experience, moving up within a matter of strides and that will bring him on a lot for his debut in a few weeks.

Now called Ralph The Rascal, he put in a nice grass gallop this morning. Seen below doing his work with his stable companion, a three time winning mare called Green Ice, who is incidentally also by Gimmethegreenlight.

He loves the attention – seen here during a recent visit by the Hollywoodbets Training Team, who will be following his career keenly.

With such a great temperament, it is no surprise to see him getting all the love and attention from the Hollywoodbets Marketing team on their recent visit to Summerveld.

He is really starting to show us some encouraging work at home and should just about be ready for his debut towards the middle of September.

He was a very green,  solid colt after being broken in. As such, he developed an awkward action and it was soon evident that gelding was the next step. He is starting to show a lot more and when things come together for him, he should be a nice horse.

He has arrived safely in Durban and has already been put through his paces at Summerveld. He moved very well and we are excited to see him run in a years time. Below is a photo of him a few minutes after the auctioneer’s hammer came down.
