Mare: Ice Link (Toreador)
Breeder: Moutonshoek Stud

Purchased: BSA Ready To Run Sale 2018

Previously known as Ice Rink, he is a smart, beautifully balanced gelding by Gimmethegreenlight (AUS), out of a Toreador (IRE) mare called Ice Link. Ice Link is the half-sister to the likes of PROFIT REPORT, a 9 time winner in SA and Mauritius, including the Falcon Sprint (L), as well as 2nd in the Golden Horseshoe (Gr1); and SEATTLE ICE, an 8 time winner, including the Charity Mile (Gr2). He appears to be a quality sprinter type, having already shown a fair amount of speed in his work so far. We decided to geld him earlier this year, as he was starting to show signs of becoming a bit top heavy.

He is really starting to show us some encouraging work at home and should just about be ready for his debut towards the middle of September.

He was a very green, solid colt after being broken in. As such, he developed an awkward action and it was soon evident that gelding was the next step. He is starting to show a lot more and when things come together for him, he should be a nice horse.

He has arrived safely in Durban and has already been put through his paces at Summerveld. He moved very well and we are excited to see him run in a years time. Below is a photo of him a few minutes after the auctioneer’s hammer came down.
