UPDATES – Masango Machine

October 22nd, 2021
MASANGO MACHINE was accepted into the Hollywoodbets Life After Racing programme. The Hollywood team paid a visit to La Belle Ferme Equestrian Centre in Drummond to see the horse. Some nice photos from the visit below:

October 2nd, 2021
MASANGO MACHINE was retired by the Hollywood Syndicate on the 2nd October 2021. The gelding had 12 starts for a win and a place.

September 30th, 2021
He took his place in a Classified Stakes race over 1000m on the Vaal Classic course. He was squeezed at the start which caused him to clip heels. He was then settled in a mid-field position and never went on with the effort. The son of What A Winter will need to show improvement soon.

September 4th, 2021
He raced over 1000m on the Turffontein Inside course. He travelled well in the race, moved up into contention but did not go on with the effort.

August 26th, 2021
He took his place over 1000m on the Vaal Classic course this afternoon. He was slow into stride and never got into the race. He continues to drop in the ratings and we are hoping to see some improvement soon.

February 7th, 2021
Masango Machine picks up his maiden win at the 6th time of asking, when winning the 3rd race at Hollywoodbets Scottsville today, under a commanding ride by Donovan Dillon. Well done to trainer Peter Muscutt and breeders Hemel ‘n Aarde Stud. He does have his soundness issues, but it was great to see him win his maiden in such good fashion. See the replay here.

February 5th, 2021
Masango Machine, strong through the line in his final hard workout before his race on Sunday, 7 February 2021, over 1400m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. He’s moving really well and is very fit heading into this race.

January 13th, 2021
Decent effort by Masango Machine today. He stayed on nicely in the latter stages to finish in third position. See the replay here.

January 8th, 2021
Masango Machine doing a quiet piece of work this morning. He runs on Wednesday 13 January at Hollywoodbets Scottsville, in a maiden 1200m with Donavan Dillon aboard. He is in good order heading in and will race with a tongue tie after making a respiratory noise in his last start. There is quite a lot of form in the race but being 3rd run after the rest, he should progress again from his last start to be involved in the finish.

December 11th, 2020
Masango Machine wasn’t disgraced on his return finishing in 5th place, just 4.45 lengths off the winner. It’s a fine line to draw with a horse coming back after an extended rest from injury and he certainly needed the outing, pulling up having a good blow after the race. He will certainly benefit from the experience. The stable trotted him up on Saturday and although he is obviously still warm, he was perfect in his action.

Looking back at the race, he was above himself, began awkwardly and then over raced a bit early which took its toll late. We will keep him to the same trip and he should be very competitive with the natural improvement expected his next start. See the replay of his run here.

December 7th, 2020
Masango Machine stretching out well this morning, with Anton Marcus aboard.

He returns to the races on Friday 11 December, in a 1200m Maiden Plate on the Hollywoodbets Greyville Turf. This run comes after a five month absence through injury. Anton will ride jumping from an ideal 2 draw.

His work has been very pleasing and he is as fit as the stable can have him without a prep run under his belt. If he brings his work to the races he can be competitive in a field with very little form to recommend.

November 17th, 2020
Masango Machine finishing his work off in style this morning. He continues to improve on the track and will gallop again on Thursday.

He will be entered for two upcoming races:

  1. A maiden 1200m on Friday 27/11/20
  2. A maiden 1400m on Sunday 29/11/20.

October 30th, 2020
Masango Machine, near side, strong up the hill at the end of his gallop this morning. He has progressed really well and his post exercise heart rate recoveries this morning indicate he is ready to return to the races. He will be entered into a 1200m or 1400m Maiden Plate towards the 2nd week in November.

October 20th, 2020
Seen galloping nearest to the camera this morning. He has taken big steps forward and is really starting to show good work. He had to be driven out to finish his gallop this morning, but he was galloping with a horse that is rated off a mark of 95. His heart rate recoveries are heading in the right direction, so he will have one more gallop next Thursday 29 October, ahead of his return to the races on 8 November 2020 in either a 1200m or 1400m maiden on the Hollywoodbets Greyville Turf track.

October 14th, 2020
Seen closest to the camera, doing a solid piece of work this morning. The stable is really happy with his progress and he is starting to show what he is capable of. He will have two more gallops to get him ready to go without needing a run when he returns on Sunday 8 November 2020, in either a 1200m or 1400m on the Hollywoodbets Greyville turf.

September 4th, 2020
Masango Machine has returned to Summerveld after a short spell on the farm. He has been battling with some discomfort in his pelvis since day 1 and seems to be doing a lot better now, since joining up with the Brett Crawford yard in KZN. Here he is having a quiet trot.

August 24th, 2019
He has settled in well and can be a bit naughty at times. That said, we are happy with the way he is going about his business.

July 8th, 2019
He has just arrived at Leckhampton Farm, where he will spend the next few months maturing before he is broken in. See below, a more recent photo of him, taken at the sale:
