BINARY STAR is a new addition to the Hollywood Syndicate, purchased recently at the 2018 KZN Yearling Sale. This bay colt is a son of Querari, out of the dam Indy Dancer (Judpot), and was bred by Riethuiskraal Stud. Read below to learn more about this horse.

Name:
 Binary Star
Sex: Bay Colt
Foaled: 22/08/2016
Sire: Querari (GER)

Breeder: Riethuiskraal Stud

Bred by Riethuiskraal Stud in the Western Cape, he is a cracking colt by Querari out of the Judpot mare Indy Dancer.

He is bred to be a sprinter / miler and he looks every bit the part of a guineas horse.

From the super strong family of multiple group 1 winners and sires, namely: LONDON NEWS (international Gr1 winner including the Rothmans July Gr1 and the QEII Cup Gr1 to name a few, Sire), KINGS GAMBIT (7 wins including the SA Derby Gr1), PLUCK (winner of the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile on Turf Gr2, Sire), MASTER OF MY FATE (winner of the Premier Trophy Gr2 and promising Sire), PROMISFROMMYHEART (winner of the Triple Tiara and dam of Master Of My Fate – Sire) and SUPERWOOD (winner of the Gold Circle Derby Gr2) to name a few.

Stable Placement:
This was one of the easiest purchases at the 2018 KZN Yearling sale and we were delighted to pick him up. He will spend the next few months on the spelling farm before he is bought in to begin his training regime with Kevin and Alyson Wright.

Updates – Binary Star

September 20th, 2019
Binary Star – an impressive winner of the first race at Hollywoodbets Greyville, on Wednesday 18th September 2019. The flashy dark bay Querari colt did it the hard way and went start to finish over the 1400m on turf. Thanks to Alyson Wright for turning him out so impressively and well done to Riethuiskraal Stud and  Raymond Danielson for a beautifully judged ride.

This son of Querari has shown plenty of ability on his four starts so far, although they came a bit too soon for him. He has since strengthened up very nicely and we have no doubt that he will be a very nice 3-year-old. He is bred to go this trip and further, but despite his scope for much more improvement he may just need the run after a 13 week lay-off. With that said he is drawn nicely and with Danielson up, he should give a good account of himself. We give him a good place chance today, in the opening race at Hollywoodbets Greyville Racecourse. Having had a nice start to career, he has shown enough ability for us to believe that he is going to get even better with time. As such, we have taken the bold stance of giving him a rest and bringing him back into full training as a three-year-old. He will next see the course around spring time.

Binary Star has his 3rd start today, back on the turf where he is much better suited. We are hoping to win this in order to qualify him for the Breeders race on July day, but it does look competitive. See the final field here:

He has his official debut on Saturday 18th May 2019. Although not 100% tuned up, we will be using this to rectify bad habits he picked up in his barrier. From that wide draw, he will be dropped out and we expect to see him running on late. Final field below.

He has really come a long way since the “penny dropped” for him a few months back. We always thought that he was one of the specimens of the KZN Yearling Sale 2018 and the signs are there that he has turned his page and presence into full blown ability. He will have his first run soon and we expect him to have a nice debut.

This is FLAME OF ELEGANCE being led by a very smart colt called BINARY STAR. Visit their respective pages for more.

This Querari colt is a real athlete. He has a great hind leg, great angles and is still growing. Typical of some Querari off-spring however, is their tendency to be a bit “hot headed” and he definitely has that gene.

He will more than likely need to be gelded at some stage, but for now he is being ridden on the farm by an experienced rider who gets him to relax.

He has just about completed the “breaking-in” process and will soon be on a float to Summerveld, where he will join up with Alyson and Kevin Wright.
